3 D DECORATIVE ART INSPIRED BY NATURAL STRUCTURES

With natural structures as a starting point we will explore possibilities of translating them into a piece of felted art. We’ll experiment with different ways of wool layering, direction of fibers and placement of resists and see how the initial layout influences the final consistency and shapebility of your felt. Playing with rhythms of repeated elements, colour or texture contrast, elastic or stiff sections in the felt or combining several parts in an installation … offers a variety of options for impressive wall decorations.

FLAT FELT AND FORM

In this workshop we want to explore various possibilities of how to build up reliefs or 3-dimensional felted objects. Playing with a number of basic form elements, that can be combined, aligned or interlaced with each other in different ways, we can create beautiful pieces of jewelry or sculptural felt art.

3D STRUCTURES FOR WEARABLES OR WALLHANGINGS

In this class we will deal with multi-layer surfaces in feltmaking which can be applied to wearables as well as art objects. We’ll experiment with different ways of wool layering, direction of fibers and placement of resists and see how the initial layout influences the final shape of your felt. The result can be a 3d waistcoat or sculptural wallhanging.
