3D WEARABLES

In this workshop we will deal with 3d structures in feltmaking and explore how composition and direction of fibres influence the final consitency, shape and flexibility of a piece of felt.
You will learn how to develop a pattern for your individual size waistcoat and then create a fashionable, unique garment with multiple collars or 3d surface elements.

FLAT FELT AND FORM

In this workshop we want to explore various possibilities of how to build up reliefs or 3-dimensional felted objects. Playing with a number of basic form elements, that can be combined, aligned or interlaced with each other in different ways, we can create beautiful pieces of jewelry or sculptural felt art.

WEARABLE MOSAICS

Creating mosaics offers a great chance to make use of a precious collection of leftover silk fabrics. Fine lines of wool will be used as frames to assemble the fabrics into colourful ornaments, scarves, wraps, blouses or decorative collages.

In order to avoid holes and receive a delicate but stabil result, the layout and first prefelting require patience and precision. But once all components are well connnected, the last stage of felting will be done easily.

3D STRUCTURES FOR WEARABLES OR WALLHANGINGS

In this class we will deal with multi-layer surfaces in feltmaking which can be applied to wearables as well as art objects. We’ll experiment with different ways of wool layering, direction of fibers and placement of resists and see how the initial layout influences the final shape of your felt. The result can be a 3d waistcoat or sculptural wallhanging.
